With 26+ years of continuous TV success under their multicolored belts, the Power Rangers were due for a significant makeover. Working closely with bot Bandai and Saban executive teams, we were asked to bring the fearsome fivesome into the modern era to attract a whole new generation of passionate fans.

A POWERFUL LEGACY

Building on insights from our extensive research, we identified the two most memorable aspects of the PR brand: the original iconic lightning bolt and the full spectrum of character colors. We integrated these elements with a bespoke wordmark to deliver a new classic logo for the 21st century and beyond.

DESIGNING FOR A VIDEO GAME WORLD

Youth audiences have evolved immeasurably in recent years with exposure to sophisticated technology (what 6 year old doesn’t have her own iPad?) and increasingly mature video games. Over the years Power Ranger packaging had become dated, unfocused and lacked relevance with the intended audience. The new line look is powerfully simplified, with an aged up color palette and featuring the iconic bolt as a focal point.

To complete the transformation, our PicturePlane art division delivered state-of-the-art 3D renders of characters and toys, product photography, graphics, and logo animation.
